Heather Knight, the 34-year-old Sydney Thunder’s middle-order batter, celebrated a significant milestone by completing her 100th Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) appearance on December 3, 2025.

The largest event of the season took place during the 35th match of this year’s WBBL tournament, which took place on the 11th of January, 2020 at the Drummoyne Oval in Sydney, as the Thunder faced off against the Brisbane Heat. Although she didn’t contribute much to the Thunder’s eventual win and was dismissed for a scoreless first innings (golden duck), Heather Knight is still seen as one of the most important players in the WBBL. Under the captaincy of Phoebe Litchfield, Sydney Thunder won the match by a margin of 23 runs to secure their 7th victory of the tournament and put them in 7th place on the points table with 7 points from 9 matches (3 wins, 5 losses and 1 washout).
Heather Knight’s Beginnings: Hobart Hurricanes Career Highlights
Heather Knight has been playing in the WBBL since she joined the Hobart Hurricanes prior to the start of the 2015 tournament season, making her debut on December 11, 2015 against the Melbourne Renegades in a match held at Launceston. Over the next several seasons while playing for the Hurricanes, Knight played in 55 matches and scored a total of 1,353 runs at a strike rate of 107.63, averaging 26.52 runs per innings. Knight scored 8 half-centuries during her time with the Hurricanes; her best innings being an unbeaten 82 runs off 55 balls, which included 9 fours and 3 sixes, against the Melbourne Stars in 2018 at Burnie. The Hurricanes lost the match to the Stars by 5 wickets, but there were all-round contributions from Knight. In addition to scoring runs, Knight took 39 wickets while bowling for Hobart, with a bowling average of 27.17 runs and an economy rate of 6.92 runs per over in 48 innings played for the team.
New Chapter: Knight Joins Sydney Thunder and Makes an Impact
In 2020 Heather Knight joined the Sydney Thunder team and played her first game against the Sydney Sixers on October 25th at North Sydney Oval. Since joining the Thunder, she has made a total of 1157 runs in her 45 games, hitting at a strike rate of 127.28 and averaging 36.15 with 8 half-centuries. Her highest score was an incredible 83 runs off 39 balls against the Adelaide Strikers in 2020, where she hit 11 fours and 3 sixes; and received Player of the Match for helping the Thunder to secure a victory by 58 runs. As a bowler, Knight has had success as well, taking 15 wickets with an average of 19.20 and an economy rate of 7.02 across 22 innings.
